VALHALLA BOUTIQUE HOTEL

OBJECTIVE

Valhalla was created to offer customers their own personal heavens just like the soldiers in Odin’s army. Many people seek to go places based on the vacation spot more so than the hotel itself. In Valhalla, customers will be welcomed and won’t want to leave because it offers anything and everything people will want from a getaway.

CONCEPT

The concept began with the mythology behind HBO’s Game of Thrones and developed into a pop art and Norse mythology combination. It was inspired by artists Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, specifically their use of color and dots. Valhalla Boutique Hotel takes the idea of the mythological heaven Valhalla where soldiers are saved after the war and are treated to their own personal heaven. These soldiers have everything they want and could need to live and thrive.

DESIGN & DELIVERABLES

The main features in the hotel products and deliverables are the Norse symbols. They all have distinct meanings and represent different aspects of Odin and more relating to Valhalla. The colors in the hotel and its products are well saturated to show off the Norse mythology. The deliverables include a look book, menus, website, and various products from soap and shampoo to do not disturb cards.

Look Book & Epub

The Look Book and Epub have the same content, the Epub is just the electronic single paged version of the Look Book. The contents run through the different parts of Valhalla including the about, the rooms, the amenities, etc. Every page has a little piece of mythology tied with a certain symbol that relates to the page. They all feature pictures with a dotted pattern and bright color variation to help differentiate them from each other.

Products

The products featured include a candle, war paint, soap bar, shampoo & conditioner, do not disturb signs, a journal, a key fob, and finally a lotion bottle. All of the products are consistent with the Valhalla style and color schemes and they all have some use of Nordic symbolism to tie it all together. The fan favorite products are Odin's Rejuvenating Soap bar and the Asgardian Firewood candle.

Menu's

Valhalla is home to two restaurants, Café Skarsgård and Sæhrímnir, that serve breakfast and lunch & dinner respectively. The copy on the menu is consistent with that of a Valhallan solider under Odin's command. Sæhrímnir has small soldier portions and large soldier portions to fit the need of any size stomach. Sæhrímnir also has a drink menu where the most popular drink is mead.

Website

The website is essentially another electronic version of the look book, but instead allows people to learn more about it from the comfort of their own home. They can also schedule a time to visit their own personal heaven with Valhalla. Although the hotel is spectacular, it encourages its residents to go out and explore the city of Columbus and its wonders.
